Volunteer for Coastal Bend Cat Rescue

Our rescue is made successful with the help of caring volunteers and foster parents. We value our volunteers and take great pride in providing training, supplies and ongoing support for new and experienced fosters. We have various opportunities for volunteering with our team and different levels of involvement within our foster program.

General Volunteer Positions

  • Administrative - Includes office work and administrative duties as needed, or on a weekly/monthly basis.

  • Trapping - Involves meeting with our TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) team as needed for trapping community cats. Must have your own transportation and must attend a TNR workshop or training session prior to beginning.

  • Transports - Involves transporting cats from animal control facilities to our approved rescue partners. The typical time requirement is 4-12 hours round trip, depending on the destination (we transport to Houston, Austin and surrounding areas).

  • Fundraising - Involves meeting with our fundraising committee on a quarterly basis and volunteering at fundraiser events (booths, shows, etc.) along with soliciting to local businesses or individuals for participation.

  • Fostering - Involves commitment to housing one or more foster cats at your residence. Foster projects may be short-term or long-term, but we require a minimal commitment of 2 weeks.

Foster Program

Our foster program is the backbone of our rescue and we cannot say β€œyes” to saving cats without a foster home lined up. We provide you with basic supplies and training, and you provide a temporary living area for a cat in need. Available foster projects include bottle baby kittens, mush kittens (learning to eat), fully weaned kittens, mama cats with kittens, medical/special needs cases and adult cats.

All foster cats must be kept indoors and you will be provided a kennel or playpen to keep your foster(s) separated from resident pets and contained while you are at work or at night time for their safety. We ask that you fill out a foster application through the link below, and agree to an in-person home visit with one of our team members.
